This year marks the 150th anniversary of the Georgia State Fair. The fine group of men and women of the Macon
Exchange Club have once again dedicated many hours to make this long standing tradition a success. While the
Exchange Club is well known for its work with the fair, few people know that they are involved in and support many
other aspects of the community. For the past eight years, it has been my pleasure to work with the Exchange Club
during their annual golf tournament to benefit the Crescent House, a service of The Children's Hospital at The
Medical Center of Central Georgia. The Crescent House is a children's advocacy center designed to provide services
to victims of sexual abuse.
Through their work with the fair and the golf tournament, the Exchange Club has donated more than $75,000 to support the
services of The Crescent House. This generosity has enabled us to purchase much needed specialized equipment, attend special
training sessions and provide many other "extras" like toys and games that children in settings such as this need. Only with
the help of community organizations can we begin to fight the terrible and widespread problem of child sexual abuse.
Please join me in supporting the men and women of the Exchange Club by supporting this year's anniversary event, and in
doing so know that you are supporting many community organizations such as ours who benefit from their efforts.
