Welcome to the 152nd Annual Georgia STATE FAIR!

Dear Fair Goer,
Welcome to the 152nd Georgia State Fair. Again we have made every effort to bring you the finest in free entertainment, the very best in livestock shows and as in years past, we welcome the return of the World's largest traveling carnival, Amusements of America, that promises the most spectacular rides that we have ever had. In addition to great carnival rides, we have great food to suit every taste and plenty of it.

Every paid admission gets a chance to win a vehicle from Purser Truck Sales. A lady from Perry won the El Camino at the 2006 fair. We thank our generous and loyal sponsors for making these efforts possible.

Our theme last year was “MACON FUN For LOCAL CHARITIES”, because the STATE FAIR is about FUN for our patrons but perhaps more importantly, the proceeds are to benefit area charities. The 2006 Fair was such a great success and our mission remains the same, so for 2007 we remain “MACON FUN For LOCAL CHARITIES!”

This year we'll have fireworks every night, we'll have Robinson's Racing Pigs (with pigs racing on a track and in water), motocross racing, tractor pulls, and a variety of magic shows, petting zoo, Animal safari shows, crafts and photography exhibits and great live entertainment. There are a variety of musical entertainers scheduled to perform; be sure to see them on College Night Thursday and The Grapevine performs in concert Friday.

This year, the Georgia STATE FAIR, with the help of the local community, will claim the World's Record for Largest Kazoo Ensemble. Anyone can play a kazoo (just hum)---we need 3000 or more volunteer band members!!

The kazoo was invented in Macon (Georgia) in the 1840's by Alabama Vest and with the help of Thaddeus Von Clegg, it was introduced to the world at the the 1852 Georgia State Fair. Macon's rich musical heritage is world renowned and even reflected in the name of our baseball team, the Macon Music....whose mascot is named..."Kazoo." As the birthplace of the kazoo, it's only fitting that the Georgia STATE FAIR should hold the world's record and to win it playing a song by a Macon music legend in a ballpark that's home to the Macon Music whose mascot is named "Kazoo." We have arranged for world-renowned kazooist Barbara Stewart to be on hand as well as Mark Brooker & the Soul Proprietors and the high schools bands of Tattnall Square Academy and First Presbyterian Day School will help entertain the assembling crowd. Otis Redding, III, has agreed to lead the big "band" in playing his father's song, DOCK OF THE BAY. With your help, we aim to claim the world record Thursday September 27th. [ More Info ]

We have an even greater level of volunteer participation in putting on the 2007 Fair. In years past, we've averaged over 7000 volunteer man-hours to operate the Fair (not counting selling advance tickets). This year, we have an enormous effort going into planning and organizing the Fair and we hope the result is a better Fair for our visitors and greater profits (due to lower expenses--not higher prices!) to go into our Charity fund.

As always, the 4H and FFA will have livestock competition in the Livestock Arena. There is no charge to watch the competition so go and enjoy and show your appreciation to these youths who work so hard to show their animals. Arts and Crafts competition is also a free display you will not want to miss. These Crafts are fast fading from our everyday life so see them while you can.

Your attendance and support of the Georgia State Fair helps worthy organizations through the charity fund of the Exchange Club of Macon, so please come see what we mean by “MACON FUN for LOCAL CHARITIES.”

Sincerely,

Board of Directors, Georgia STATE FAIR

P.S. Thanks for making the 151st Fair in 2006 a success for our community! ---GSF
